"Cracking even before install"
Planking came out of box with ends and edges cracked. Impossible to work with, returning and purchasing hopefully something of better quality. Moral of the story is stay away from this product.

"Not consumer friendly for installation and is buckling where the sun hits"
This product is not easy to install. It is hard to get one piece attached to the other. When you click the end, the sides would come out and vise versa. After installation it did look pretty good. I installed in the kitchen and dining room. I followed all of the instructions and now I have buckling where the dining room table sits on it and in front of the sliding doors where the sunlight hits it. It looks absolutely horrible in this area and I would never recommend this product to anyone. If I could get my money back I would rip it up. I'm stuck with it now.

"Not Happy"
I installed the vinyl Shaw flooring in one of my rental properties. 6 months after installing the floor I started seeing in several different spots (in the middle of the planks) where the top layer was peeling and cracked. I called and made a warranty claim and was told that I installed the floor wrong!

"Don't Buy Shaw Laminate Flooring"
Purchased a Shaw laminate floor for our kitchen and den. Product show gaps in a number of ends. In the winter they are worse. The first year we bought it we complained and they sent a Shaw Flooring expert to inspect the floor. He took many tests and pictures, the end gaps are very clear. The result was that it was not installed properly. We have the same product in a bedroom installed by the same installer and no problems. The product in the kitchen/ den is defective and Shaw will not take responsibility.

"Versalock Vinyl Plank"
Just finished laying the vinyl planking in my sunroom. Can't give long- term info but I am a 62 yr old woman and I was able to install 305 Sq ft of this flooring by myself. Make sure you read the directions and have the proper tools! I pulled up the 1st 4 rows and did it over again, but once you get the hang of it, it installs smoothly. Perfect for a room with muddy dog feet and plants!

"Luxury vinyl plank 5.9 x 48 inch"
Folks, this is not a easy diy installation. Unlike clicklock laminates, the vinyl tongues are soft, easily damaged and do not fit together easily. In fact, as experienced as I am, it took 3 separate assemblies to get this to fit as it should. Preparation of the subfloor, casing undercuts, and cutting to fit was the simple part. However, Getting tight fits is something else. The best remedy is to cut a short piece of the material to use as a striker plate, then do so gently as not to destroy the product. Do not leave the prescribed gap at the starting edge, you will wind up with one after tightening the 2nd or 3rd time. Be patient as this is not for the novice installer. Carefully study and plan your layout as mistakes can be expensive, and by all means by at least 10% more than you calculate. It does not cut easily requiring multiple(20) passes with the sharpest of utility blades, which require frequent changing as the material dulls them fast.

"BEWARE OF SHAW LAMINATE"
We bought and Shaw 'light commercial' grade and had it professionally installed. Beware - it chips and marks easily, too easily. We wonder how a light commercial grade can be so fragile. Now we wish we had looked closer for better products or read more on-line reviews of the shaw laminate product. It's a big investment so do your homework more thoroughly than we did. We wouldn't choose their product again.

Review:
"Laminate is not perfect"
The best thing about laminate is the ease of care. Simple sweeping and mopping, that's it. It does scratch, however, but not easily. Playful pets can take a toll on it but it holds up well and is certainly more forgiving than real wood. What I dislike is the hardness. Without thick soled shoes, my feet hurt. I have had a wood floor before and did not experience pain nearly as much as with laminate. I don't know if I would buy it again.
