"Unhappy carpet owner"
I bought my Mohawk carpet on sale for $22 per sq. yd at Stallbaumer Lumber, Seneca, KS. Worst carpet I've ever had for the price It leaves traffic trails wherever it is walked on. It takes constant vacuuming for it to look nice. Mohawk came and looked at it but did not stand behind their product.

"Regrets plastic fibres rub off all over"
I ordered this for the color, I researched after purchase when too late. It is the "polyester" type plastic shiny sparkly type (if you look close) It looks normal in the carpet store. I have a cat, whom licks his paws. I also had issues with dust in general in my home. I didn't know this carpet would add to it. Do this test. Take your sample, rub it against black cotton or nylon clothes, do tiny shiny spindles of plastic or whatever it is rub off onto the black? This means it sheds like crazy like mine. (right away) the fibres are weak and semi loose. I sat on it with my black yoga pants, and the fibres were all over my pants, and the fact that these fibres are not natural, they won't disintegrate in the wash, or likely in my cats intestinal system. I'm probably going to have to cover it with plastic which will suck. I regret getting it, I should have just paid for it and then paid for another carpet made of nylon which I would do for our health. These can float in the air and get breathed in to the lungs. I hate it when I make expensive mistakes like this. After research, nylon would be the way to go I think, do the black cotton rub test on your samples.

"Horrible product"
Worst carpeting I have ever seen. Horribly matted, almost threadbare on the stairs. Only 2 years old with moderate use. Was sold on the carpeting due to their warranty, but when it came time for Mohawk to stand by their product they failed. Almost immediately denied our claim and now we are living with a matted and unacceptable carpet. Do not buy from this company! You will be disappointed.

"Pissed off"
The carpet is coming up and shredding at some seams. Mohawk sent inspectors out. They pulled the seams up more than they were to look & their determination was that I have 2 sm dogs and clean the carpet myself the rug was too wet and the dogs wet on the seams. I was never told the carpet had to be professionally cleaned. The never offered to fix the parts of carpet the inspectors pull up and it's in worse shape now than before. Carpet is only 8 yrs old. This is sure a case of CMA and poor customer service after the fact. Be sure you get a warranty.

"Shiny like tin foil and just as durable. Sad"
Do not buy this carpet at any price!! Just over a year old and the look is shabby and matted. In front of my couch there is a spot where it's so matted down I would have to put a throw rug over it if I move my couch. The stairs look terrible as does the the several feet into my living room entry way. I filed a claim and of course it was denied. I don't understand how this company can get away with it as it appears everyone is very unsatisfied. I'm considering a lawsuit. This is not normal wear.

"Brand New Home Looks Trashed Because Builder Chose Mohawk"
Obviously I'd give zero stars if possible. We moved into a brand new home just months ago. It's 3 stories, 2300 sf, and nearly wall to wall sh***y Mohawk carpet. We've recently had an inspector out to inspect the carpet because of this. But anyone paying well over a half a million dollars for a newly built home would expect to go more than 2 or 3 months before being forced to replace their carpet, whether or not Mohawk covers the replacement (which it sounds like they rarely do). Our carpet is not only cornrowed everywhere (and has been since day one, regardless of what Jeff believes to be true about the first gen. Poly carpets compared to now). But more importantly, I've never seen more matted, disgusting carpet in my life. We've followed all maintenance requirements for the carpet. Where we walk (rarely, because we're always at work) It's so matted that a vacuum won't even lift it. But more infuriatingly, in the Baby's room, where we only go to pick her up or put her in her crib twice a day, and change her at the changing table twice a day (becuase she's at daycare the rest of the time), the areas in front of the crib, and changing table, are so matted down we can't even see individual carpet twists in the pile. The twists literally melded together to form a single disgusting fuzzy sheet of what appears to be felt. And it can't be lifted in any way. The carpet's completely broken down, at the molecular level, like it's decomposing. it's the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Every time we go to my Mom's house, with her 30+ years old carpet that I grew up on, I'm upset, because her carpet is still nearly perfect. All pile twists stick straight up, nothing is crushed, and certainly not matted. It's sparkling white with no stains, and literally glistens in the sunlight. Then we return to our brand new expensive home and cry because walking on the carpet is the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced. And my poor baby doesn't even want to crawl because the carpet hurts her knees since it turned weirdly rough on the surface after matting down and fusing together. The homeowners in our development are considering a class action lawsuit against the builder. This is one of the reasons why. Congrats Mohawk. You made lost a "customer" before we'd personally ever even chosen a product from you. We might have been dumb enough to think we could replace this carpet with something more expensive at Mohawk. However, after reading countless reviews that sound exactly like our own experience, and knowing now that ours is not a unique experience, I will never buy Mohawk ever. Nor will anyone I know ever buy flooring without me trashing Mohawk to them until they agree to buy something else. I will make it my MISSION to turn away every potential customer you ever might have had. You took the joy out of my childrens first home. You made my baby not want to crawl. You literally single handedly ruined our entire experience in buying our first all new home. I wish I'd bought a 30 year old home with the same carpet my mother owns. Then I'd have brand new looking carpet still.

All I have to say is Mohawk carpet sucks!

"Very Happy with Purchase"
Had Mohawk Thoughtful Flair installed in our home three months ago. It still looks brand new. Very happy with this product. The carpet is so soft and I love the different flecks of color. We paid extra to have a memory foam pad installed underneath the carpet which adds extra cushion and felt that was worth the additional cost. So far, zero complaints about the carpet. It is very dense, soft, shows minimal vacuum marks and foot traffic. Shedding was very minimal after install. Our cats scratch it and no damage is done. No issues with pilling, stretching or dreadlocking. It springs back from compression much better than our old nylon carpet. Cat did have a few accidents on it and the liquid stayed on the surface and washed out with little effort, no staining. There are so many negative reviews about most carpet companies (human nature to address wrongs but forget to give kudos when something works well). Frankly it was stressful picking a carpet when I couldn't find many positive reviews for ANY manufacturer, and it is especially hard when the reviewed doesn't share which specific carpet model they bought. There is a BIG difference in quality btwn a economy carpet and something higher end so reviews with only manufacturer listed really isn't helpful. I felt compelled to let other consumers know how happy I am with my Mohawk Thoughtful Flair carpet purchase.

"Poor quality and won't stand behind warranty"
I will never put Mohawk carpet in my home again. We bought very expensive carpet made by Mohawk and the carpet started breaking/wearing down within 5 months of purchasing. We followed all of their requirements for caring and maintaining the carpet and it still did this. Of course the place we bought it from went out of business so we had to deal directly with Mohawk. What a joke. The paid someone to come out and look at it and they said absolutely nothing was wrong with the carpet and it was showing normal wear. We had a cleaning company come look at it along with a carpeting store in town come look and they said it shouldn't be doing what it's doing. The carpet is matted down and looks disgusting. We're fighting their denial but I'm sure they still won't do anything about it. Save yourself time and money and go with a different manufacturer.

"Rip Off. Over Sell, Under Performs. Wears Out Quickly"
I have been in the carpet cleaning business for almost 30 years. I have the best equipment money can buy. I have a 5.0 rating with all the review sites in my area. I have received the Angies List Super service award 4 years in a row. I am an IICRC certified master textile cleaner. I have cleaned thousands of homes. Am I bragging, maybe a little. I am just saying if anyone knows carpet. The problem with Smart Strand carpet is not the stains it is the wearing of high traffic patterns. High traffic patterns like in front of sofas, around the bed, the hallways and living areas. The truth is that all carpets are subject to stains. Most spots and stains can be removed. Unless you are extremely hard on carpet, stains and spots are not the problem. Though most manufacturers of carpet use stain and spot removal their main selling point. Wear in traffic patterns is and always has been the most difficult thing to restore when cleaning a carpet. Smart Strand wears out incredibly fast. I have gone into homes after having the carpets only one year that look horrible and cannot be restored by cleaning. I'm not talking about dirty homes. Most of these people are clean and many have house cleaners. Smart Strand Carpet is a rip off. It's not right that a huge company like Mohawk takes advantage of hard working people. I know many people who made a financial sacrifice to buy new carpet, thinking it was indestructible only to be heart broken because their carpet looks like crap after only one year. Mohawk does not honor their incredible warranties. I have had several customers file complaints with Mohawk. Not one of them got any satisfaction only excuses.
