Karndean Flooring

Karndean, also known as Karndean Designflooring, is a UK manufacturer of vinyl flooring made to simulate the appearance of a natural wood or stone floor. This allows for a floor that looks like wood, but won't become loose or creak, or a floor that looks like stone but won't crack over time. Synthetic vinyl flooring by Karndean has five layers, consisting of limestone, PVC, and a polyurethane coating.

Karndean Products

Seven main collections of flooring are offered by Karndean: Art Select, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Van Gogh, Opus, Knight Tile, and Karndean Looselay. Some of these collections offer both hardwood and stone looks. Optional Karndean Wood and Stone Borders and Custom Feature Designs add the finishing touches to a floor. All lines come with a lifetime residential warranty.

Karndean's Synthetic Wood Flooring Collections

• Art Select Wood: Handcrafted to resemble wood and is available in Parquet, Oak Royale, Cherry Royale, Oak Premier, and Maple.
• Da Vinci Wood: Distinct edges in three categories. Light wood, Mid-toned wood, and Dark wood.
• Opus Wood: Karndean's modern line is also categorized in the same Light, Mid, and Dark tones.
• Van Gogh Wood: Larger planks with more detailed wood grain. Also comes in three tones, Light, Mid, and Dark.
• Knight Tile Wood: This is the most affordable collection and comes in a variety of designs and colors.

Karndean's Synthetic Stone Flooring Collections

• Art Select Stones: Expertly designed to look like authentic Travertine, Slate, Marble, and Limestone.
• Da Vinci Stone: Premium line of light, mid, and dark stones with multiple types of borders and design strips available.
• Michelangelo Stone: Unique stone mosaic, pebble, and metallic designs in a variety of colors.
• Opus Stone: Large modern-style tiles with a clean, smooth, contemporary look.
• Knight Tile Stone: The stone economy line for Karndean offers a wide selection for both classic and contemporary spaces.

Karndean's newest type of vinyl flooring is called LooseLay. It doesn't click into place nor does it require glue, staples, or nails. Instead, each piece has a grip backing that holds it into place with friction and weight. If one plank or tile needs replacing, you simply take it out and install a new one. Karndean recommends this type of flooring for smaller rooms that require quieter flooring, such as a bedroom or playroom.

Karndean Company History

Karndean was started in 1973 by Mike Walker in the United Kingdom. It has now grown into a global brand, opening Karndean Australia in 1982 and Karndean USA in 1996. The Karndean logo and website were rebranded in 2011 and 2012, with the addition of the phrase "Designflooring".

For each flooring line, you can view the available styles and colors, request free samples, and read instructions on how to lay patterns, create effects, and add borders. Warranty terms, cleaning advice, and maintenance guides are also available for every Karndean product line.
