"Mohawk handscraped engineered wood flooring"
We installed Mohawk's handscraped engineered flooring throughout our house (2700 sq feet). The flooring is awful. We have scratches everywhere and chunks of color is coming off the wood. Our transitions are all chipping off color and the stair nosings are all worn through. Our floors look awful and are only 3 years old! ! I will never buy anything with the Mohawk name attached to it.

"red oak sold wood"
Do not purchase Mohawk wood flooring. We spent 13,000 and have all kinds of problems with the floor. It is cupping, 3 m finish is coming off etc...Mohawk says not their problem it is because our home has too much moisture. We live in Ohio not by any lake and installed per their specifications. I talked to old time installer and he told me we should of put down a vapour barrier even though Mohawk said we shouldn't. This floor was installed per Mohawk specs. Do not purchase their flooring...you will regret it.

"Engineered Hardwood"
The most superficial scratches leave white streaks that no one can explain. Anything will scratch it and unfortunately my dogs nails do this also. I was prepared for scratches since it's wood but not the white streaks. No help from the Lei Flooring and Window Coverings the dealer who sold me the flooring or Mohawk and finally had to report them to the bbb but still no help.

"still waiting"
This is an update to our June 2012 posting... No one should buy stranded bamboo flooring from Mohawk. We are still trying to get Mohawk Industries to accept responsibility for this flooring which the included instructions that stated it could be placed over radiant heat and then we were told by a Mohawk inspector that this flooring should never have been sold to us for this application after which he brought forth another instruction manual which said it was not to be placed over radiant heat, but that is not what our installation booklet says. Mohawk is still saying that it is an installation issue but that is not what your inspector says. The floor is buckling, separating, splintering, and is a tripping hazard. We were in contact with Mohawk within weeks of installation (for that is how quickly the problems began) with our concerns about the flooring and Mohawk did nothing and in every correspondence they have replied that it is not their responsibility. My husband is confined to a wheelchair and it is a problem for him. What a lousy and uncaring company.

"Color distortions in 4-month old maple floors"
Within 4 months of having Mohawk light maple floors installed I discovered that the flooring under my area rugs and furniture had become several shades lighter than the flooring that is uncovered and exposed to light. According to Mohawk this is due to photosynthesis, however, said process cannot occur without sunlight. There is no sunlight under my rugs. Tell that to Mohawk. Their remedy for this situation was to advise me to move my furniture and rugs around periodically and the discolored flooring may return to its original color. Of course the flooring beneath the rugs and furniture in their new locations will then begin the discoloration process. My husband was in the flooring business for 40 years and has never even heard of this happening. Neither has anyone else with whom I consulted on the matter. The flooring is clearly defective but Mohawk is unresponsive even though their guarantee states that they warrant against damage even from direct sunlight, to which my floors are not exposed. Hardwood floors should increase the value of a home but after spending $4500 Mohawk flooring has succeeded in devaluing my home. When selling I am legally bound to disclose these defective floors and a buyer will want compensation. Thanks for nothing Mohawk. See you in court!

"Stay away from Mohawk wood floors"
Had to replace a solid wood floor and chose Mohawk prefinished floor-- terrible mistake -- floor is uneven, finish is chipping off after 6 months, finish is high gloss which is impossible to keep clean--Forget their warranty because it's a scam--they have denied our claim and won't do anything about it--not a reputable company

"Very disappointed"
We chose Mohawk because of its reputation; after reading many flyers/articles about their bamboo flooring and how the floating type flooring could be installed over radiant heat we selected a beautiful floor some 1900sq. Ft.of it. We told the salesmen about the radiant heat and not one salesman said stranded bamboo should not be installed in this application. The installers followed the directions. Just weeks after the floor was installed (June 2011) parts of the floor began to warp, separate, buckle and the ends rise up. Since then we have been in consultation with the provider as well as Mohawk Industiries. They have done nothing to help solve this problem. Even their inspector said this flooring should have never been sold to us. We are very unhappy and are considering legal action.

"Warning! Don't buy!"
We purchased a dark maple wood. It is beautiful, but I would never buy it again! The color was very different in all the boxes. We had to sort all the packages and install all the light colored in one room and carefully match the rest. It was extremely different from the sample. It started to scratch before it was installed completely. You can't breathe without it scratching. Our dogs have been banned from the house. They scratch the floor if they move. A piece of the flooring must be hollow in between because it's sunken in. Anything that is dropped will leave a dent or a scratch. We don't even want to invite guests over to the house because you have to remove your shoes and not slide chairs back from the table. We've taken all precautions to put felt on every piece of furniture we own and it still scratches!!! There are usually only two of us home and cause very little wear and tear on the floor because we work all day. I'm extremely disappointed in the Mohawk product. We know of other people who have hardwood flooring with no problems. I would definitely not recommend Mohawk hardwood floors.

"Sample to product discrepancy"
I purchased 1400 sq ft of Mohawk engineered hardwood flooring from a distributor in Georgia and I live in Houston, Texas. I am disappointed in the difference between the sample and the product I received. The texture is quite different and the color is off. The order was placed using the identifying style numbers listed on the distributors website, which were the same numbers on the sample (from a different retail outlet) but were not the numbers on the boxes of product that I received. I have been told that different companies use different identifying numbers and call letters. O.K. but I used the distributors numbers and the boxes did not have those. So a consumer has no way of claiming that the product received is not the product ordered. Very clever. Industry wide policy? Very, very clever. But I am going to lose almost $2,000, to pay a re-stocking fee and shipping to return the flooring, because it is not the quality or color or texture represented on the sample; I cannot get a Mohawk representative or the distributor to look at the difference. Do not make the mistake I did. Work with a local company that sells, installs and stands behind their service to you by making sure you are pleased with the quality of the product.

"Don't look at my hardwood floor, it might scratch!!"
Never having purchased hardwood flooring we were told engineered wood is the way to go these days and were introduced to Mohawk. We did some bedrooms and a family room with it and were planning on the rest of the house. After the first two day we noticed scratches on the wood. We have been extremely careful, put felt pads on everything. The scratches are not just tiny surface ones, but enough that white is starting to show through. My contractor told me he has put lots of flooring down with that scratch resistant coating and it is usually harder to cut, this stuff was "like a knife through butter" almost like cutting trim he said. I gave samples to my retailer and Mohawk did some 'testing' and the results came back fine, shocker!! There is no way in hell I am putting this flooring in high traffic areas and if you have a dog, forget it!!! I spent a lot of of money on this wood and in my mind it was a complete loss, my wife is so upset she wants to rip it all up!! Complete garbage, stay away! You have been warned.
