Review:
"Terrible carpet!"
We had our bedroom and living room laid 3 weeks ago. It was very costly and the sample looked like high quality. From the first day we had this carpet, it looked terrible. We even bought a new vacuum that was reviewed as one of the best for this defective looking carpet! My husband and I only live here and we do not have pets. It show every imprint of every step you take on it. It flattens down and stays that way! It looks disgustingly cheap! Trust me, do not purchase this carpet. The only thing good about our costly purchase was that we only had it laid in 2 rooms, instead of our entire house. Every time I look at it, it reminds what a big mistake we made!

"Hideous New Mohawk Smart Strand Installation"
We recently (5/2/20) installed in our den 72 yds of Mohawk Quarterage SmartStrand carpet over the Mohawk recommended Mohawk Smart Step Cushion pad. The appearance of the carpet is Hideous. After sending pictures and video of the installation, we sent Mohawk a sample of the installed carpet. After over a month Mohawk claimed they had tested the sample in their lab and reported (06/24/20): "We have completed our testing and confirmed that the product meets all manufacturing specifications." What Mohawk failed to comment on was why the appearance of the carpet was so abominable if it indeed met "manufacturing specifications". They also failed to offer any solution to the appearance. Further, they failed to offer warranty protection nor exchange under their 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee. There are only two of us living in our home, and we have no pets. Also, as a result of the Corona virus, we have had virtually no guests. Thus, our den is an extremely low traffic area. Finally, we have vacuumed twice and that is not a solution as the carpet returns to the same appearance after only a few days.

Review:
"Worst company"
Purchased a Mohawk brand carpet from a local carpet dealer. Don't want to mention their name at this time. The carpet was Soft Impression by Mohawk. This carpet carries a 25 year warranty, well after 3.5 years it looks like Rats Hair. I called the merchant about it, the store owner came to my house to inspect it,and confirmed that there was a problem with it. They opened a claim with Mohawk who after 3 weeks sent a third party Inspector, LOL to look at the carpet. He did his inspection and told us that it would take 10 days to generate A report. I just want it to be known that this carpet is in all my 3 bedrooms. Anyway the claim was denied. The reason according to Mohak was that "I didn't maintain it properly" they called my bedroom a heavy traffic area, what a joke, I only go there to sleep. They also had said that I didn't vacuumed it enough, and I didn't have an approved vacuum cleaner, an failed to have it professionally cleaned Every 1.5 years. What the hell is an approved Mohawk vacuum cleaner ? I bought a Hoover from Sears for 250.00 dollars isn't that good enough? I was never given any instructions regarding professional cleaning every year and a half. To be honest if I was told that before buying it, I would have walked out of the store. Absolute BS, they are not a reputable company that you can count on if something goes wrong. What a bunch of crooks, they don't stand behind their product, they send some quack for an inspection, and whatever he writes is law. I contacted Mohawk many times, only to be passed from department To department, before you actually get to speak to a rude agent With an attitude, that repeats the same thing over and over "At this time we will not replace your carpet, but we really understand your frustration" Gee thanks, when I got off the phone with one of their managers, my blood pressure was through the roof. I really don't want To get an heart attack over it. Do your self a favor, and stay away from Mohawk anything. Their carpets are over rated, over priced, they don't honor their warranty, and they don't take care of their customers. And make no mistake, that Inspector that comes to your house, is only loyal to Mohawk, not you. No matter how friendly they appear, they are not to be trusted. The less you talk to them, the better off you will be. Did I mention that the merchant who sold me, and installed the carpet hired a lawyer? Unbelievable! The kind of world we live in. You can't trust anybody. Certainly not Mohawk...

"Worthless Warranty"
I recently wrote a "Very Unsatisfactory" review on this product due to a warranty claim denial to an obvious manufacturing defect. I was notified today that our claim had been re-opened and reviewed and Mohawk would replace the carpet under warranty. We had been persistent in pushing for this review and Mohawk stood up and did the right thing for us. Our faith in people/companies doing the right thing has been greatly improved by this turn of events. Sometimes the information just needs to get in the hands of the right person. Thank you Mohawk.

"Worthless Warranty"
We installed Karastan Division best wool carpeting ($65yd)in 2014. Carpet was supposed to have protection from insect damage (wool moths and carpet beetles). In early 2020 we started noticing bald patches in room corners and along edges. This damage was coming from carpet beetles. We followed the rules and worked through our retailer to file a warranty claim. Four weeks later the claim was denied stating that the carpet had no warranty. We have tried all we can to get this corrected but to no avail. Short of costly legal action we have no other recourse. buyer beware that Karastan now owned by Mohawk has a sham warranty and you can expect no better treatment. Buy at your own risk.

"Absolute garbage"
After less than a year this supposedly high-end pile of nylon garbage is matting severely, showing excessive wear around traffic pattern area (2 adult home) and looking extremely ratty. This is my second carpet which was a replacement of the first that began unraveling after 2 mths installed, and Mohawk refused to swap under warranty (took a lawsuit) I will never ever buy any product of any kind branded Mohawk. I suggest you steer clear. Many other superior options out there including Shaw, Tuftex, etc.

"Terrible carpet"
I had Smart Strand carpet installed the end of June 2018. By January of 2019 there was already a problem with it. Besides obvious traffic patterns the carpet fibers were "crushed". I had the carpet cleaned per the flooring company and according to Mohawk's cleaning protocol--no difference in the carpet. Mohawk sent an independent inspector out. I told him what the problem was with pictures to back up my complaint. He submitted his report and Mohawk denied it--saying that it was a cleaning issue. I got a copy of the report and not one word of it was my complaint! I called the flooring company and said the report was nothing but lies--nothing that was submitted was my complaint. Because I didn't give up and demanded something be done, now nine months later Mohawk is replacing the carpet! It obviously will not be with a carpet made out of corn husks this time, but tried and true nylon! I cannot and will not ever recommend Smart Stand to anyone, but Mohawk either saw the error of their ways or they have had too many complaints about this carpet.

"Filing a class action suit against Mohawk."
Every Smart Strand review sounds the same and goes like this: Carpet looks worn out after 6 months use. Stains won't clean up. Mohawk inspector blames the vacuum or the dog or anything but the fact that this carpet is crap and so is the warranty. Contact me if you are interested in speaking to our Class action lawyer re. your very expensive worthless carpet.

"Warranty Fraud"
When we purchased our new construction home in August 2017, we had Mohawk Smart Strand carpeting installed. We not only had the carpeting professionally cleaned, but also cleaned the carpets ourselves with the carpet cleaning machine we own, several times over the two years we have lived here. In July of 2019 we opened a claim, because the primary backing of the carpet had separated from the secondary backing. We had the independent inspector come out and test the integrity of the carpet in several areas. He did say that he was finding a variance in the strength of the strand resistance, and took an unused sample of the carpet with him, to send to Mohawk. The inspector also used a black-light, and found NO evidence of urine on the carpet in any of the areas he inspected, proving that we were diligent owners in the care of our carpet, IMO. They denied my claim based on "environmental" reasoning, blaming the fact that we own two dogs, and that they must have urinated in the area where the adhesive failed. Here's the thing. Mohawk and Shaw manufacture 95+% of the carpeting sold in the United States. Their monopoly of the market, is why they can treat honest customers poorly, with NO worries about accountability. I can only hope that a class action suit is filed, that teaches them to treat customers fairly and with respect. My advice, is to avoid any Mohawk related flooring purchase. Their warranty, while 'flowery' and 'sparkely' as it may sound, is just a fraud to give you a false sense of protection.
